Backyard fauna (and flora)

Flora? The pic is from 2020 when that flowering tree or bush or whatever it is spread over the She-Shed. It’s been cut back since then.

Fauna? I was in the Landfill Loo late this afternoon and out the window, I spied Henrietta (rabbit), a squirrel, and mama or daddy robin. Henrietta probably has some babies somewhere in the yard. I hope the lawn mower doesn’t get them. Mooma Robin and her baby daddy hatched four eggs. A crow killed three of them. The one that remains seems to be hardy. As the GG says, “Birds eat birds.”

Squirrels? They are all over the place all the time. Once the GG inadvertently knocked a squirrel nest down just outside our back door. There were baby squirrels all over the place. I think there were three. The mama squirrel rushed down from wherever she was one, two, three times to “wrap-a-up-a-baby” (aka a squirrel) and get it out of our yard to wherever. I’m not sure that most squirrels can count as well as most of us humans because I think she came back a few times looking for another baby squirrel. Maybe there was another baby squirrel. Who knows.

Baby squirrels seem like they would be cute. The cycle of life can be cruel.
