Back in the day, there was a TV Western with the theme song that KW quoted. Was the show called “Rawhide”? I don’t remember, possibly b/c it was not one that Bubs let us watch. (Now you have an idea about how long ago this was!)
Later on, the song was used in a commercial for dog food, which is what Val was referring to. Val may have keyed in to dog food ads more than you, b/c of dogs on her lap while watching.
Another “almost” ancient reference to the song was in “The Blues Brothers” movie. When Jake and Elmo sneak into a cowboy bar under false pretenses, the rowdy crowd does not want to hear the blues, but start cheering and stomping when they roll out the Rawhide theme song.

For some reason, that makes me think of the Gravy Train. Absolutely no idea why . . .
