I dunno how long the empty Hennesy bottle has been in the Back Room. Cognac is not my poison of choice nor was it yesterday’s 20-something visitors. That I know of… We had maybe six beers here when the 20-somethings began arriving and there is one left. I think the last time I remember drinking cognac was a Christmas night on the shores of Gitchee Gumee back before I had met the GG or had any kids. I was sitting in Radical Betty’s snowshoe chair by the back window. There was a good faaaarrrr going in the wood stove and there was a big G2 party swirling around me and I was sitting there eating chocolates and sipping cognac and shoving all of my fears about my life away for the moment. Snow was falling and life was pretty dern good at least for the moment. I don’t think this is *that* bottle…

Cranberry sauce spill? This is the second one since xmas. The mess is only on the bottom floor of the refrigimatator so I will deal with it tomorrow. For tonight my refrigimatator will be a “bloody” mess 🙂

The news from the north is better today (knock on wood BIG TIME). The last day or so have been difficult albeit not life-threatening and I woke up jittery this morning. I normally love the dark days of the hardland of the winter. I get energized by walking in the dark. This morning? I can’t say how glad I was to see the sun rise.

Aaaannnd… I went back to work. I left my work on Thursday the 22nd of December when I drove over to Daytwa to pick up my beautiful San Fransican beach urchin and I haven’t been back to work since. Almost everyone on my team was off for the holidays but we reconnected well by kibbitzing by Cube Neighbor’s cube forever and in general took our time remembering what we do for a living. Most of what we all are working on stuff that might be implemented this summer or fall. A week off at this time of year doesn’t amount to much loss of productivity.
