Hey MAGA (you know who you are), read at your own risk
Congratulations to all of the folks who ran as democrats yesterday and WON! It’s about time somebody started hitting back at the Orange Baboon and his stoopid sycophants. I mean, where do y’all think you’re gonna end up if you continue to suck up to him? Dead maybe? I mean, he ain’t gonna live forever and if he does, he still won’t care about you. Because, broken record here, he doesn’t care about anyone except himself. I am not religious but I know about heaven and hell from Sunday School and I think I know where he’s gonna go if there is some kind of afterlife at all. Do y’all wanna go there with him? I don’t think you do.
So all the elections I was loosely keeping track of turned out how I wanted them to. Two democratic governors (New Jersey and Virginia). And they are women, which I am calling out secondarily because a person’s sex/gender does NOT have anything to do with their competence to govern a state (or do anything except maybe put your p*nis somewhere). I know that men can also competently and gracefully hold political office and I know that women can be horrible at it. So we’ll see how this plays out.
Mamdani New York City mayor. New York City is a long way from most of the country. I have been to Niagara Falls but not to the city. I know Mamdani is controversial for a lot of people, including some of my friends. But I feel the excitement of our younger generations. I agree with them that we need to nudge the “old guard” out. So we’ll see how this plays out.
The California ballot measure to implement a new congressional district map? Mixed mixed mixed feelings, mostly ugh. As a non-MAGA voter, I wish for more democratic representation, at least for now as we seem to be threatened with whatever weird stuff the Orange Baboon does. As a citizen of the United States, I think gerrymandering should be totally outlawed everywhere including with time zones (stoopid inside Landfill joke).
So… I’m with her. I did vote for Hillary in 2016. I was not crazy about her as a presidential candidate but it had nothing to do with her competency. It had more to do with we’ve had two Clinton terms and that’s enough. But when The Orange Baboon actually became a viable candidate, I was all in for Hillary. I definitely voted for Kamala but I don’t have a magnet on the fridge for her. I also have a “Women for Trump” magnet on my fridge. That was a prank but I keep it there as a reminder of my life as a pragmatic feminist living with MAGA in the Trumpian Autocracy era. I am NOT for Trump.

I agree about Hillary Clinton. She would have been excellent. I like what CA did because they voted on it unlike Texas and a few other states. Older Daughter had Mamdani’s father as a Columbia professor. She hated him but enjoyed many of M’s mother’s films. I’ve seen a couple of them myself.

And my local school board candidate lost to another progressive (but way out there) woman with no kids who just moved into the district and teaches in Seattle. My candidate has volunteered and been involved with the district for years and has two children in our public schools. Also, a couple of right wing people were elected to the Puyallup City Council. However, I don’t live in Puyallup so it doesn’t affect me as much.
