Uh-oh spaghettio
The 1-year-old at the Old Cabin says “uh-oh” a lot. I love hearing him through the woods. I guess the 3-year-old probably contributes some “uh-ohs” too but he is also developing a more sophisticated spoken vocabulary. Oh, don’t get me wrong, the 1-year-old is sponging it all up.
So when I spied the Mean Old Grunchie Old Grinchie in the driveway late this afternoon, I alerted the GG to our visitor with an “uh-oh” or two or three or five. Looking at the GG from the driveway through the picture window, the Grinch said, “He looks like Harry.” Yes indeed, he looks quite a bit like My Dear Uncle Harry even though they are not biologically related in any way, shape, or form. The GG has similar hair and wears similar hats but he is quite a lot shorter.
I fixed the Grinch up with a ‘hattan and as we were sitting in the moomincabin, another interloper, Le Marquis, appeared at the door. “Uh-oh!”, said I. I also fixed him a ‘hattan and we all discussed pollyticks (and land crapola) for a while. Don’t worry, no fights broke out. There was only one MAGA amongst us and you can bet it was not meeee. After a while, Le Marquis went back over to the Old Cabin and we shared leftover enchiladas with the Grinch. The Old Cabin folks had already eaten.

My eyes always are pulled in when books are featured in photos. The John McPhee book about Alaska is one of my husband’s all-time favorites. We have at least 2 copies here somewhere. I read it too, a long time ago, and agree that it’s very good, as is much of what McPhee writes. That Seth Harp book is fascinating! I read it last year and think I’ll get it out of the library to skim through it again. I do remember that the author holds some political views that I don’t agree with but that doesn’t mean the book isn’t truthful. Thanks for jolting my memory! Book about Michigan geology also looks like one I would at least browse through: as I’ve told you many times, reading your blog has opened up my brain to the Great Lakes’ region.
