Whar’s mah jigger?
Y’all know what a jigger is, roight? If you are a teetotaler, maybe not. It measures “liqwire” into glasses to make cocktails.
My fam has a fave style of jigger — graduated peg measure (something like that) — and we have a very particular jigger that we like, made in Denmark, I think? I don’t have the bandwidth to look all of that up this evening but I think it’s called a perambulated peg measure. The Commander always had one and when her kids (me and my brother) acquired a taste for ‘hattans (it can take a while), she bought each of us one. I think she was buying them in Petoskey, a northern Michigan rich folks summer retreat but more on that some other day. Grandkids came along and grew up and and then my brother and parents died and suddenly I was the owner of two jiggers, mine and The Comm’s. I couldn’t leave one of those things at the moomincabin over the winter so it became part of my cabin-closing routine to schlep it back to The Planet Ann Arbor for the winter.
The grandkids drink an occasional ‘hattan nowadays so the search began to find more of these peg measures. We found a few and I was able to gift them to my children and bonus daughter. Anyway, I auto-piloted the moomincabin jigger home when we returned here and the “kids” were wondering where it was today since they are up there. It’s okay. I wish I had left it there for them.
Is this breakfast? I don’t think so. I was thinking corn chowder, which is a moomincabin staple but the garbanzo bean can is throwing me off.
I am also thrown off that it’s Sunday night and I didn’t hear Taj Mahal singing about cake-walking into town and Throw your big leg over me. What did “they” (who is “they”) do to Sunday night WEMU?

I haven’t heard of a jigger, but I think that’s because we call them shot glasses. I don’t drink hard liquor so if I did, I may have heard that term.
