In which the Planet Ann Arbor city council exchanges I forget how many police and faaaarmen for 13 drinking fountains
Yes. I am back here on The Planet Ann Arbor again*. Clunkity clunkity clunkity clunk ka-whomp! The photooos are from last night. When is some ultra-smart iPhone app developer gonna finally invent a Harry Potter-style apparation app? I have been a nomad for almost two months now. I need an apparation app. It was absolutely necessary that I live like a nomad for a while but I am kind of at the end of my rope. There are things going on at my office in the next couple of weeks that I need to be around for. The northern situation is not fully resolved yet but we have an interim solution in place if we need it and one of these days we just might be looking back at all of this and find some humor here and there. Not quiiiite yet. Today, I dropped off The Commander at the long term care yet again. I thanked her most recent roommate (who is going home tomorrow) for being such a wonderful roommate. Because she was! What an upbeat, friendly person! And then I ran the gauntlet that is currently required to actually get *out* of Sault Ste. Siberia and I was southbound.
Of course, I washed every dish in sight and locked everything up and dealt with the garbage can in town and loaded up every last scrap of laundry I could find but wouldn’t you know I left two grapefruit(s?), a couple-three tomatoes, and an apple sitting out. So whoever goes up there next will have a mess to clean up. And it may be meeeee. But who knows. I tried to clean up after myself but, as I keep telling The Commander’s uber cleaning goddess, I didn’t do a particularly good job. I mean, how much of a mess can one baggy old kayak woman make? Sorry, moom.
So, I drove back down to The Planet today and, after I had thrown a load of laundry in and packed away the little bit of food I brought down with me, I faarrrred up my loverly old MacBook and checked Twitter… Say what!!!???!!! Wildfaaarrrr near Grayling? As I drove past Grayling on the I75 SUV Speedway in the early afternoon, I was blissfully unaware of any wildfaaarrrrr. It must have started around that time or after. I don’t know why but I am having some trouble processing this.
So, here I am. It is hot and swampy here. I talked to the GG on the way down and he *ordered* me to keep the A/C on when I got home. That means leaving the doors and windows shut and that makes me a bit claustrophobic. But it *is* hot and I am trying to be stoic about it. I remember summers when it was this hot every day for weeks on end and we had babies but we didn’t have central a/c. I’ll take it.
Good night,
Boomerang Woman
*And to be fair, what’s going on in our loverly city isn’t as simple as the title might suggest but… Y’all, pay attention to what your local elected officials are doing. Are they doing what you elected them to do? Or not? That is all.

Glad you’re back! It’s hot? How hot is hot? We are still suffering a dearth of warm weather. It got near 80 on the weekend, but now it’s rainy and in the low 60s, if that. I’m wearing a sweatshirt. 🙁

how hot is it? about 93 right now. about the same as yesterday although we haven’t hit the hottest part of the day yet. hot enough that if my power had gone out yestserday (as Kayak Womans did) I would have left my apartment to sleep in my parents basement.
