Rum Runner and Coast Guard

Twilight zone. I got up and did all the usual stuff this morning and managed to get to work at 8:30. Hello? Is it Friday? There were about five vee-hickles in the parking lot. Well, maybe more than five but it was pretty sparsely populated. We have a *lot* more parking than is needed, judging by the number of people who actually work in the Planet A-squared facility, so there are always plenty of empty spaces. Like whole parking lots full of them. Once, our home office (on another planet) sponsored a little employee contest of some sort and one of the prizes was a month of parking right next to the building. I guess on the home planet, parking is difficult (I’ve never been there) but here on the Planet A-squared pretty much anybody who wants to can park next to the building. And there is a beautiful pond with geese and ducks and swans and elephant grass and whatever. As you can see. Today? Only a few vee-hickles.

Anyway, it was 8:30. I go to work at 8:30 all the time. I’d like to go earlier but I will not give up my morning walk and even though I am home from that by 7:00 for the most part, I have chores and things to do. Check my email and bank accounts, make my bed, clean the bathroom, make my lunch, etc. So. Where *was* everyone today? Was it really Friday? Was it Saturday? Had I actually slept through Friday? Was it some sort of weird holiday that I didn’t know about? Had we all been laid off? I dunno. Eventually people started trickling in and, at some point, someone turned on the lights in the building. I never do because I *like* working with only my computer screen for a light. And it turned into a pretty regular day with lunch from none other than Zingerman’s Bakehouse, which NP Jane mentioned in the comments yesterday. I didn’t participate today. I brought a salad and yogurt and vanilla soy milk [and a couple pieces of leftover Halloween candy] in and took a walk during lunch.

Enought of that boring stuff. today is the 75th anniversary of the repeal of the Prohibition Laws So celebrate! Skoal. Cheers. Glahgging off now. KW!!

it’s 10:30 Friday night and I’m in for the evening. after having been out and toasting the 75th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition!!! (so, we all listen to NPR in the morning, huh? 😉

as I made my toast I said ‘I wonder what it would be like to not be able to drink….’ and then we decided we would have known where all the cool blind pigs were.
