Dear Gitchee Gumee, I miss you
Alas, we semi-closed the moomincabin this morning. It was a soft kind of closing which will allow others to go up there and comfortably use the place if they want to. This is probably the easiest closing since sometime well before The Commander died. I won’t detail those difficult years but I always seemed to end up taking more food down here to The Planet Ann Arbor than I wanted. This year, there was very little and most of what there was I had purchased and it will get used down here and I have already incorporated some of the stuff from the cabin into my own chichen.
As we were driving down through the northern lower (peninsula), the GG proposed that we stop at a bowling alley for lunch. I was skeptical for about a split second but then I agreed to that plan. This bowling alley is in Roscommon and it is a wonderful place to eat whether you bowl or not. We sat at the bar and I ordered the Michigan Salad (and a cab). If you know The Great Lake State at all, you know that a Michigan Salad can include many ingredients but it always includes dried cherries. My salad was wonderful. It was a green salad but I added chicken. I got the small salad and it was perfect. I did have to laugh at the catheter commercial that was playing on the big TV directly in front of me. So many catheters. Who knew? Jeebus. I am just glad that the volume was turned off.
And on down the I75 SUV Speedway and here we are and it was 91 and humid when we got here and I needed to get some steps in because I couldn’t walk the beach this morning because lightning. I walked over to the Plum and then around the neighborhood and then I took a shower, which helped a bit but not all that much. What I really needed to do was walk out into Gitchee Gumee past the second sandbar and up to my neck.
Missing Gitchee Gumee and all of my relatives and friends up there in the Yooperland.
Love y’all,
Kayak Woman

Very hot there then? I wouldn’t like the salad because I don’t care for cherries. Wish I did.

Missing you too. I get a great feeling knowing that you and GG are here and loving it. Lots of humidity here too. I went on a bike ride this morning and could not believe the work out in the humidity. Not ever again. LOL
