Knight’s Inn. Best Townie Hangout. Yes! Especially if you are within easy walking distance. If you are, you can actually drink 1-1/2 or even two ‘hattans and not get arrested for drunk driving. Drunk walking, I’m not sure about. Anyway, My Favorite Hangout won Best Townie Hangout in the annual A2 Snooze Readers’ Choice Awards. Am I a townie? I dunno. I don’t think so. I guess that’s fodder for some other blahg entry. Maybe I’ll get there before I’m in Lurie or Sequoia or Freighter View or wherever.

I can’t remember the first time we went to Knight’s. It’s buried somewhere in my brain. When the beach urchins were young but old enough to stay home alone for a while, it was a close place to go have dinner. And there were also times when we would walk over for one of their killer Manhattans. I swear that they do not measure those drinks. Or maybe they just measure them double. I dunno. I took my own personal octogenarians there for lunch once (before they stopped driving down here) and it was Friday when all kinds of people who use wheelchairs were there. My octos were amazed at all of the old people there. Go figger.

Once I was having breakfast with a bunch of middle school moms and my over-the-top friend Vicki and I were raving about Knight’s and… and… another middle school mom thundered, “Well, isn’t that where all the REPUBLICANS go? You guys this was at least 10 years ago. Vick and I looked at each other and looked at the thunder-mom and we said, more or less in unison, “Well, yeah, there are prob’ly some Republicans there.” And I think we stopped at that point.

Yeah. I am sure that Republicans hang out at Knight’s. I know that Democrats do too. But it is definitely a good hangout and I love going there and taking people there. It is so popular that we couldn’t even take Dogmomster there last Friday because they had two huge parties there. I made lasagne here at the Landfill instead. But. Go Knight’s!
