A day off?

Yeah, I’m taking today and tomorrow off. I am a penny pincher when it comes to my paid time off. I have generous benefits, basically five weeks of vacation. I remember when I only had two. I hoard it like crazy until summer when I *always* use 2-3 weeks of it. I’m always terrified about scheduling it through the time-off “tool”. My boss is always cool about my plans (or lack thereof). As I said to her the other day, when you own property, you aren’t dependent upon reservations or tickets or whatever. I wasn’t being arrogant (and she knew it), just that when you own the place you’re traveling to you can go whenever you want to. In my case, it’s my childhood cabin. Still, I always try to schedule my time when family members are going to be there. Their schedules are tighter than mine and I can work from anywhere.

Today? I did not get OUT OF BED until 8:15 AM. I didn’t wake up at any time through the night. That’s unusual. I usually wake up a few times.I always check my phone when I wake up, Like, okay it’s 4-something AM so I can happily go back to sleep. This morning I didn’t wake up until 6:30 AM when the GG’s phone started vibrating like crazy. Someone from the North Country Trail called him at 6:30 in the morning. Okay… I went back to sleep until 7:30. I finally got up and outta bed at 8:15.

What did I do today? Mostly read a book, The Women of the Copper Country. I finished that and I am gonna join my husband and a daughter down on the beach to watch the sun finish setting. Nothing else to say except g’night y’all from KW.

It would be wonderful to own property for a get away, a place that felt like home but wasn’t. Enjoy your days off and sleep as late as you want. I’m an 8 am person although with baby here it’s more like 6 am. Yawn.
